WOOLWORTHS OPENS WINE & TAPAS BAR AT V&A WATERFRONT
July 11, 2008
Next time you need a break from shopping at the V&A Waterfront, why not spoil yourself with a visit to Woolworths brand-new winebar? Situated on the upper level with stunning views over the harbour, this chic, European-style wine and tapas bar is the perfect place to relax, meet friends and enjoy a delicious lunch or snack – along with a glass or two of specially selected wines. With its white marble counters and black tables and chairs, the winebar is an ultra-modern new addition to Woolworths ‘women’s world’. It offers a small but varied tapas menu where the emphasis is on providing diverse flavours and textures on one plate. Actually, plates are out – food is served on wooden boards; one board makes a light meal for one or a snack for two. There are wine suggestions to accompany every board, and if you’re not sure which to choose, all you have to do is ask your waiter for some advice. Interestingly, everything on the menu – including the imported Veuve Clicquot champagne – is available from Woolworths foodmarkets. A look at the menu reveals two charcuterie boards – one with an Italian flavour and one featuring Spanish cured meats, two cheese boards – one with local cheeses and one with imported cheeses, two fish boards – one featuring Norwegian salmon and one with prawns and salmon, two vegetarian boards – one a typical meze combination of hummus, tzatziki, olives, etc. and the other a deconstructed caprese salad. There’s also a dessert board full of sweet treats, and a cake selection for tea time – the perfect accompaniment to a cup of Woolworths organic tea or coffee. Woolworths winebar launched on Thursday 26 June and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days a week. ENDS
