Banish dreary chills and dull moods this winter by incorporating beautiful artisanal products, pretty exotic or feminine accents into your home.
These three trends dominate the Woolworths Home Winter Collection, which emphasises sustainable and energy-efficient materials, craftsmanship and the joy of baking.
Woolworths Home Design Manager, Claire Smith-Robinson, elaborates: “Artisanal continues to be a strong trend, which is amplified going into winter. The new Artisanal Home Collection includes beautiful cream coloured pots and pans and bakeware, sustainably-sourced olive wood boards, pestel and mortar’s and mezza luna’s are amongst some of the beautiful wooden kitchen accessories available There is a strong focus on natural materials, but with a modern flair.”
The Artisan Collection is a range of beautifully handcrafted product created by local artists and product designers.
The dominant artisanal theme, represented in most of the ranges, comprises the following distinct elements:
A hardy, hygienic and nonporous wood containing high levels of natural oil that curb the intake of odours, germs or stains from food. This wood is beautiful-looking and comes in a variety of shades, giving it an original yet modern feel.
The most widely-used hardwood, oak is a heavy, strong, light-coloured timber with a coarse texture and prominent grain. All products are manufactured in South Africa from timber sourced from sustainable plantations.
This range comprises products made of heavy gauge carbon steel, providing extra durability and finished with a toxin-free, ceramic non-stick coating. This is stain- and scratch-resistant and, with the exception of the springform pan, dishwasher-safe.
All pots are crafted using heavy gauge carbon steel, enabling energy-saving due to the low heat required when cooking. The ceramic non-stick coating is free from harmful chemicals such as PFOA and PTFE. These durable and scratch-resistant pots are also suitable for use on induction stove tops.
These are produced from exceptionally durable heavy gauge aluminium and finished with a toxin-free, ceramic non-stick coating. This scratch-resistant range is energy-efficient and requires only low heat for cooking.
The earthy artisanal tones with imagery of insects on to mugs and cushions are complemented by pieces from the Pretty Exotic and Pretty Feminine collections.
Pretty Exotic showcases the warmth of the Far East – but with a modern approach. Digital prints of butterflies, florals and abstracts are underpinned by rich, deep reds and teals with beautiful metallic accents. This range boasts plush winter fabrics such as velvet, tartan and luxurious furs.
Pretty Feminine is a gentle look comprising digital frosted florals, woodland animals and textures bolstered by soft blush pink and nudes with highlights of gold metallic. The textural details are created with embroidery and appliqué.
Furry, textured fabrics for throws and blankets are a key fabric throughout the season creating a feeling of warmth and luxury with plush fabrics and faux fur in beautiful colours and finishes.
“The focus on the Pretty range is to inspire customers back into the kitchen and to reignite the soulful art of baking. Nothing beats the winter blues quite like the aromatics of freshly baked muffins, citrus cake or chocolate brownies,” says Smith-Robinson.
Studio W continues to be a very important brand in home ware. The season starts off with light colour neutrals combined with soft pinks and nudes, minimal checks and accents of silver and rose gold. This colour them is followed by shades of blue and grey with a pop of yellow and the range incorporates beautiful textured knits and felts, modal jersey knitted beds in a bag, beautiful frosted glass bottles and modern lamps.
The last story of the season is bolder with the introduction of beetroot and fig combined with greys and naturals. Digital print animals and painted proteas.
